Currumbin Eco-Parkland May 2024

Team247

Local Gold Coast business, Team 247, have been engaged by Economic Development Queensland to assist with site clearing activities at Currumbin Eco-Parkland. Activities commenced in February 2024 and will see the site cleared of rubbish and waste materials.

So far, items removed include deteriorated fencing, extensive amounts of site rubbish, a range of discarded white goods and broken furniture, car tyres, damaged materials and equipment, and several concrete slabs. A total of 237 cubic metres of rubbish has been removed to date, with works to continue through to the end of May 2024 – this is equivalent to approximately 11 shipping containers full of waste!

The goal is to create a space that is free from hazards, and removal of site waste is one of the many steps being undertaken to slowly transform Currumbin Eco-Parkland into an ecologically significant attraction.

Department of Transport and Main Roads Compound

The Department of Transport and Main Roads has commenced reconstruction works along Currumbin Creek Road.

EDQ is supporting these activities by providing DTMR and its contractors with a temporary compound space that will act as a base for project management operations, equipment, and resources. The space will provide DTMR and site contractors with a dedicated location to utilise as part of the reconstruction works in the area and will be in place until the end of 2024.

DTMR works will help to ensure that Currumbin Creek Road is better prepared for future floods and more resilient to future severe weather events.

More information on the roadworks can be found here.

New Signage

An updated billboard sign has been installed at Currumbin Eco-Parkland, along Currumbin Creek Road.

The sign showcases one of the many scenic views that future visitors will be able to experience once open to the public and will remain in place until project completion.
